CAPO - Serving the needs of Portland's cabdriving community

WELCOME TO CAPO –
The Cabdriver’s Alliance of Portland, Oregon.

CAPO is a newly formed professional association serving the needs of Portland’s cabdriver community.  Use this site to learn more about issues facing taxi drivers, and for news and information related to the taxi industry in Portland, Oregon.

Mission

CAPO aims to empower Portland taxi drivers to address their work-related issues by providing a forum for the exchange of information about our industry, and by cultivating an organizational structure capable of advancing a driver-driven agenda.

Cabdrivers everywhere face a host of issues.  We are subject to complex city regulations, challenging (and often illicit) competition, and the particulars of an industry affected by economic cycles at local and global scales.  CAPO seeks to promote the professional lives of all Portland cabbies and is not affiliated with any individual taxi company or city agency.  We welcome contributions of written materials, web links, video, and photographs pertinent to our mission of improving the working lives of Portland taxi drivers.

Upcoming Events

The Portland City Council will meet on November 7th to discuss taxi permit recommendations and taxi industry reform proposals.  This meeting is open to the public and will likely be the final opportunity for drivers to speak out against adding 132 new taxis to Portland's taxi fleet.
